Remove Icons from System Tray
I explain several ways to disable or remove the application from start up.
Using Regedit : Don't forget to backup of your registry before start your work to remove the icons from your system tray. Follow the steps written below :
a) Start regedit by Start > Run > regedit
b) Goto here HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
c) Select the application you want to remove
d) Press del key to remove it and then close regedit and restart your computer.
Also check the application in start up menu. It is located here C:\WINDOWS\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp in Windows XP or C:\WINDOWS\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp. You can find the start-up application here C:\Users\[user name]\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup in Windows Vista.
Disable Start-Up Programs or remove icons from system tray using MSCONFIG.EXE :

Here is the simple and easy way to remove the application using msconfig.exe.
a) Click on Start > Run > msconfig
b) Uncheck the application in Startup tab. If you want to remove the icon of Yahoo Messenger and Skype from the tray just uncheck these two, click on the Apply button.
c) A pop-up window will appear and ask for restart. Just click on it and restart your computer.
d) When computer restart again, You'll get a message "Windows has blocked some startup programs". To Stop the annoying message, Click the icon in the notification area/system tray, and select "Run blocked program" and then "System Configuration Utility".
e) Check the checkbox that show : "Don't show this message or annoy me again when Windows starts"
